The Hebden Belt is another 100% English made belt. Like the Lifetime Belt, it is made using Oak Bark Tanned Bridle Butt leather from J&FJ Baker of Colyton, Devon, the last remaining oak bark tannery in England. The brass buckle is cast in sand in Walsall, England and the belt is hand cut, shaped, burnished and stitched here in Yorkshire.

The buckle is an extremely high quality item. It is secured using the hand saddle stitching technique. This is a time consuming stitching method using a needle on each end of a long piece of Ritza Tiger thread. It creates a knot within the stitch and is the strongest method possible.

You will notice two stitching options for this belt – just the buckle area, or the full perimeter of the belt. There are also two prices which reflect the number of hours spent hand stitching the two options (stitching several hundred stitches around the full perimeter of a belt takes a full day to complete). If you like the stitching detail and enjoy owning a piece which has had hours and hours of hand work going into it, this is a great option.

J&FJ Baker leather goes through a long gentle process that protects the natural fibres of the hide unlike modern tanning methods. The process takes from 12 to 24 months, using the best hides and oak bark from Wales, the Forest of Dean and Cumbria.

The coloured options are dyed by hand at the tannery in an irregular way giving a unique appearance to each belt. The result is a beautiful piece of full grain leather, full of character and showing scars and bites from it’s previous life. The natural/russet option however, it has not been dyed at all for colour. It is left bare which mean it will darken and age beautifully over time. Eventually you will have a dark caramel belt which has aged uniquely to you and your lifestyle. No two russet/natural belts end up the same. It is worth noting that this natural leather will absorb and pick up a bit of everything it touches along the way. It is about the aging journey, just don’t expect it to stay the way it is when you first receive it.

As mentioned above, the Brass buckles are also made in England, this process can be viewed here:

As well as leather colour options, you can choose your buckle colour, thread colour and logo location on this belt.

Sizing Guide

We make the belt for you, so will size it for you rather than using shop style generic sizing. The Aim is to determine your “Belt size” which is a different thing to your waist or trouser size. Once we have your belt size, we make your new belt so that it will fit you on the middle hole, giving you adjustment either way if ever needed.

There are two methods available to work out your belt size. Method 1, if understood and measured correctly, is by far the most accurate.

Method 1

Measure an existing belt.

We ask you to measure a current belt from the end of the leather strap where it meets/starts to fold around the buckle (not including the buckle itself) all the way down to the HOLE YOU USE MOST/FITS YOU BEST.

This is your belt size.

Please note: The belt size is usually around 2″ bigger than your jeans size.

Method 2

Add 3″ to your trouser size. For example, if you wear 32″ jeans, order a 35″ belt.

If in doubt over the belt size, go bigger, rather than smaller.

This method is not as accurate as method 1. However it maybe useful if you are buying the belt as a gift and know the recipients trouser size, but cannot measure one of their existing belts.

If you are still in doubt, feel free to email chris@chadwickbelts.co.uk to discuss.

Customisation

If you would like your initials adding to the back of the buckle area (not visible when worn) please state this in the comments box when ordering.
